Dietitian

Karina Wittmann is a Licensed Registered Dietitian and works at both the UND Wellness Center and Student Health Services as the Clinical Dietitian. At Student Health, she is available to meet with students individually to discuss a variety of nutrition-related issues. These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Weight management
  • Diabetes education and management
  • Cholesterol education
  • Eating Disorders
  • Meal planning
  • Food allergies and intolerances or other special dietary concerns
  • Improving athletic performance
  • Healthy eating strategies
  • Eating healthy on campus
  • Disease management and prevention

Karina works closely with the patient’s referring practitioner to best meet the patient’s nutritional needs. This includes sitting down with the patient one-on-one for a complete nutrition assessment and establish healthy eating recommendations.

The initial appointment usually lasts about an hour. During this time a nutrition assessment is completed, which includes evaluating the patient’s current dietary habits, and changes are recommended. Goals are set for upcoming visit(s). Follow-up visits are used on an as-needed basis and usually include reviewing the goals set from the previous visit, receiving additional nutrition-related education, and receiving a detailed assessment of your 3-day Food Log.

There is a charge for the services of the dietitian, but this may be billed to the patient’s medical insurance.

If you are interested in meeting with Karina, please review the Welcome Letter and other documents found below. An appointment can be made for a referral from a provider by calling the clinic at (701) 777-4500 or by stopping in to Student Health.
